Osteoporosis Clinical
Practice Guideline
In
1999 NOF released the Physician's Guide
to Prevention and Treatment of
Osteoporosis, the first and only
comprehensive evidence-based guideline
of its kind. NOF is pleased to announce
the release of an update to this
landmark publication developed to help
health care professionals make decisions
about patient care.
The updated guide is
designed to serve as a basic reference
on the prevention, diagnosis, and
treatment of osteoporosis. Like the
original Physician's Guide, it is based
largely on an analysis of the evidence
for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment
of osteoporosis by NOF in collaboration
with a broad, multidisciplinary
coalition of clinical experts. The
purpose of the update is to keep the
Physician's Guide current with new
treatments and to stimulate more
extensive and appropriate testing and
treatment of those at risk of fractures.
In addition, NOF has
revised our popular Pocket Guide that
contains a condensed version of the
Physician's Guide that busy clinicians
can carry with them for quick reference.
